Rane Introduces the MP2014 Rotary Mixer

Rane announces the launch of a new musical instrument for the uncompromising professional DJ who only needs two channels but requires the utmost in technology, simplicity, reliability and portability. The model MP2014 uses the same platform as Rane’s MP2015, the new worldwide four-channel rotary club standard.

Different DJ styles require different instruments. The MP2014 is uniquely tailored for the artist seeking the fluidity and smooth transitions provided by silky-smooth rotary controls. Like its four-channel big brother this definitive mixing instrument is realized through a combination of powerful and unique features, classic elegance, rugged design and intuitive simplicity.

With help from the best DJs and clubs around the world Rane redefined the rotary DJ mixer by bridging the gap between classic rotary mixers and modern DJ tools. The MP2014 represents the perfect marriage of a high-quality rotary control-surface, with state-of-the-art digital signal processing and dual 16-channel USB sound cards. An essential assortment of analog and digital I/O supports mixing vinyl, CDs and USB streaming audio in any combination.

Featuring exceptional phono preamps, three-way swept-filters and a three-band, steep 24 dB/octave main mix Isolator—with adjustable crossover points—the MP2014 provides the same quality, aesthetics and high-resolution audio as the MP2015 in an elegant and portable design, and is supported by the best customer service on the planet.

RAD26 One Room RAD Remote

What can you do with a single shielded category cable?

Rane’s new RAD26, a member of Rane’s HAL family of digital signal processors, provides enough I/O and control to support one room in a HAL audio system that requires these features:

  • Local audio line input (smartphone, laptop, MP3, DVD)
  • One or two microphone or line-level inputs
  • Amplifier outputs for speakers
  • Level control
  • Source selection

Using one shielded category cable drop, the RAD26 provides any room with a dual 4-watt amp, end-user control via a customizable color display, a dual universal audio I/O interface, plus headphone output and line-level input jacks for local needs. Three logic inputs and three active-low outputs add to control capabilities. The amp permits a single channel option of 8 watts into 8 ohms.

Applications include:

  • Classroom inputs for teacher’s mic and local inputs.
  • Presentation source and volume with projector and screen control.
  • Meeting room with A/V teleconferencing and speakers.
  • Spa with BGM, local music input and stereo ceiling speakers.
  • Hotel or cruise ship room TV and local input sound system.
Since the RAD26 is connected to a HAL system, each room can select local or system sources, and permits normal, priority or emergency paging.

The RAD26 is shipping now!

Halogen 6.0

New Halogen 6.0 software includes an Event Manager which adds a real-time clock to the four latest HAL models. With a free firmware update, HAL can trigger events using time-of-day. Reset your system every night at midnight. Churches recall the traditional service preset at 8 am, the rock 'n' roll service preset at 10 am, and the Sunday school, Bingo, and spaghetti dinner night presets too. Hotels, conference centers and restaurants recall their morning, noon, dinner and evening rave or square dance presets.

Events support a variety of recurrence settings such as weekly, daily, specific days, times, or one-time or manually triggered. Each event offers a linkable enable if your system design requires skipping events sometimes. Each event also has a manual trigger for both active and inactive. Link to these triggers to allow end users or external control systems (AMX/Crestron) to undo an Event that’s fired but not needed or already in progress.

Select the time zone & city for the job site, and HAL automatically adjusts for daylight savings if or when needed. Set HAL’s time manually, sync it to your computer’s clock during set up, or when there’s an Internet connection on site, point the HAL’s clock to both an NTP (Network Time Protocol) server and a DNS resource (Domain Name System). When offline in Halogen, the PC’s time zone and clock drive the event timer, but the HAL’s time zone and clock are used when connected live.

Halogen 6.0 can generate an equipment list in an Excel® XLS file. After configuring a system, this gives a quick and accurate "what to buy" spec. Easily paste from Halogen into Excel or other bid software.

RAD16z Gets Isolation and Logic

New for Rane’s HAL System is the plenum-rated RAD16z. It includes two of Rane's innovative Mic / Line / Line-Plus inputs, adds two logic input and output ports, and 500 volt galvanic isolation for easy integration in isolated grounding systems.

Use the 2-by-2 audio and 2-by-2 logic RAD16z in the ceiling, under a floor box or table, or on portable carts. The RAD16z is only 3.3 x 5 x 1 inches and is powered from the rack room HAL through a single shielded CAT 5e (or better) cable.

One RAD16z equips a meeting table with two mic/line inputs, logic I/O for two lighted mute or push-to-talk switches, plus dual line-level outputs. Or, use it on a school’s projector cart to feed the cart’s Blu-ray audio plus a local microphone to the equipment room HAL for processing, control and amplification.

With the whisper-quiet power on/off circuit, the RAD16z is hot swappable using the Neutrik etherCON-equipped RADX accessory, sold separately.
