This system provides background music for three separate zones, applicable for hotels or classrooms. These are the requirements:
This can be accomplished with:
All of the DSP required for distributed background music selection, room equalization, feedback suppression, mic paging and ducking, speaker protection and Level control is included in the HAL3s. Each of the three outputs has a limiter to protect the speaker, and each zone is preset with a maximum loudness. Audio sources are wired to the Line-Plus inputs on the HAL3s, which mono sum the left and right signals. The RAD2 also mono-sums its RCA inputs.
A simple switch, or a switch on a mic can be wired to a logic port. When the momentary contact is closed, the paging manager in Halogen ducks the music and allows the announcement at a preset volume. It will not matter where the individual volumes are set within each room, so a page will always be heard. Additional logic switches could be added, one for each zone, if there is need to page individual rooms.
Four rooms with source selection and volume in each is also possible, if the input selection is reduced to two sources, and the paging mic isn't needed. Replace the RAD2 with a fourth DR3, since DR remotes work in RAD ports. In Halogen, link all four DR3s together, add a fourth Zone Processor, run processing through to Output 4, which feeds Room D.
